Terms of use
These are the terms for the Hearhood creative-tools beta. Hearhood is a working name for a music-making, DJ-practice and learning website. Please read these terms before you create an account. A copy can be downloaded from this page and kept.
1. Who provides Hearhood
Hearhood is provided by Francesca Piscopo, a sole trader (eenmanszaak), trading as Scopra and Hearhood, registered in the Netherlands under KVK number 98218794, at Kraanspoor 7 C 4, 1033 SC Amsterdam, Netherlands, VAT ID NL005316644B86. You can contact us at info@hearhood.com. The Contact page lists every route.
These terms govern the creative-tools beta at hearhood.com. We show them before you create an account, they can be read inside the app at any time, and a copy of this version can be downloaded here.
2. What the beta is
The beta is a free test of creative tools that run in your browser: a step sequencer and arrangement tools (Make and Mix), the Studio songwriter workspace (hum or play parts onto instruments, record your voice), a DJ practice area with decks, a mixer and your own music library, learning material, and an AI assistant.
It is a beta: features change, things break, and we may switch parts on or off while we test. Availability depends on your device, browser, connected equipment and the features actually offered to you. We mark experimental features as such.
Free accounts can use community member pages, follows, messages, supported account sync and playable Produce song links with remix credits. Song links carry editable notes and supported settings, without recorded takes. The beta does not include a licensed commercial-song catalogue, public DJ mixes, listening subscriptions, artist payouts, live shows, or any paid offer. Where enabled, members can separately upload recordings they have permission to share. Availability and permissions shown in the app control access; a feature described here may still be unavailable to your account. Event listings and external ticket links are information and links to other providers, not ticket sales by Hearhood. Nothing in this beta is a promise that a planned feature will exist, when, or on what terms.
3. Joining, age and your account
You must be at least 13 to have a Hearhood account, or meet any higher minimum that applies where you live. Adults aged 18 or older can create their own account. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these terms and complete the supervised setup offered for your country. Under-13 accounts are not available in this release. Give accurate age and country information.
Supervised accounts start private, with direct messages, a public member page, unrestricted posting, uploads, external ticket links and AI switched off. A parent manages the available permissions and approvals. These account settings do not control the whole device or prevent access to features available without signing in.
A course’s age label describes its teaching level; it does not change account eligibility. Completing a starter course does not require public sharing. The under-13 account programme is a separate future release.
Keep passwords, sign-in links and account codes private. Email-based registration requires confirmation; other sign-in options follow the steps shown. A nickname is fine where a display name is requested. The privacy notice explains what we collect.
We record acceptance of these terms and may ask you to accept a material update before using server features. This does not delete work saved on your device. Marketing and optional analytics are separate choices.
4. Your projects and rights
You keep every right you already hold in your recordings, songs, patterns and other material. Using Hearhood does not transfer ownership to us, and we do not claim an unrestricted licence to sell or release your work. The limited permission needed for a sharing or upload feature is explained below.
You are responsible for having the permissions you need for the material you use: recordings, samples, compositions, artwork, other people's voices and contributions. Owning a song, or having a personal streaming subscription, does not by itself let you upload, redistribute or publicly perform it. Third-party sounds keep their own licence terms and credit requirements; see the Community and copyright policy for the free music and instruments the app offers.
5. What leaves your device, and permission to process it
Your songs, patterns, recordings and settings are saved in your browser on your device. When you are signed in, account sync also keeps supported editable work on our server, excluding recorded takes and DJ audio files. Creating a Produce song link makes its notes and supported settings available to anyone with the link. Community posts and messages, feedback and AI requests are sent as described in the privacy notice and the feature's controls. Recorded takes are not included in account sync or Produce song links. A recording leaves your device if you deliberately use a separate audio-upload feature; it is then stored and played as that feature describes.
Where a feature sends your material to our server, you allow us and the providers named in the privacy notice to process it only as needed to provide that feature, keep the service secure and comply with the law. This does not allow us to sell your songs, publish a private project or train a model of our own on your material. That permission ends when it is no longer needed for the feature, subject to the retention periods in the privacy notice.
6. Saving and backups
Unless a feature expressly says otherwise, projects and recordings are saved only in the browser you are using, on that device. Clearing site data, private browsing, a different browser, a different device, or losing the device can remove access to them. Export what you want to keep (My songs has backup and export; the DJ area can export cues and playlists). Account sync keeps supported editable work, but excludes recorded takes and DJ audio files. Short-course progress and practice notes remain local. Check the last successful account copy and keep a separate exported backup including recordings; neither a listening export nor a public song link is a complete private project backup. This section describes how the product works; it does not exclude any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. AI assistance
The assistant is an AI system, not a person. When you use it, your messages and a description of your song or decks (not audio) are sent to the Hearhood server and on to the AI provider named in the privacy notice. The app tells you this before your first message, and the panel shows what is sent.
Do not put secrets or other people's personal information in a message unless you have a lawful reason. The assistant can be wrong, can misread your song, and its suggestions may not be original or suitable for release. Review changes it proposes; the app keeps an undo for its changes and version history for your songs. We do not promise exclusive rights in AI output or that it is clear of third-party rights.
8. Fair use and prohibited behaviour
Do not use Hearhood for anything illegal, for copyright infringement, fraud, harassment, threats, discrimination, sexual exploitation, deceptive impersonation or imitating someone's voice without consent. Do not try to bypass limits, use or guess other people's invite codes, overload the service, or distribute malware. Limits on the number of AI messages are shown in the app before you hit them. We do not punish honest criticism of Hearhood.
9. Availability and changes
We provide the beta with reasonable care. Maintenance, defects and our own tests can interrupt it, and we may change or remove beta features with reasonable notice where practicable. The beta is free; we will not charge for past use and will not introduce a paid feature without a separate, clear offer that you can accept or decline.
10. Restrictions, closure and leaving
We may restrict or close an account where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance or a serious breach of these terms, considering the seriousness and context. Where permitted we explain the reason and how to ask for a review; write to info@hearhood.com.
An ordinary account holder can use My account, Delete my account. A supervised account is closed by its parent through the family controls; the young person may also contact Hearhood to exercise their rights. A parent with active supervised accounts must close those first before deleting the parent account. Active account information and associated data are removed through that workflow, with the restricted consent-record exception and backup handling stated in the privacy notice. It does not clear the songs, recordings and settings stored in your browser on each device; the app has a separate button for that, and the Cookies and device storage page explains it. My account, Download my data provides the supported account export. It is not a complete copy of every service record; contact info@hearhood.com for access to other personal data, including family records where applicable.
11. Problems and responsibility
If something goes wrong, use Feedback in the app or write to info@hearhood.com with the feature, the date and what happened. We aim to acknowledge within two business days and to answer within fourteen days or explain the delay. These are service commitments, not limits on your remedies.
We do not exclude liability for our fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory rights remain intact. The beta is free and experimental, but that is not a blanket exclusion of responsibility.
12. Applicable law and changes to these terms
Dutch law governs these terms, without depriving you, as a consumer, of the mandatory protection of the law of the country where you live. You may use the courts available to you under mandatory law; these terms do not impose exclusive jurisdiction on consumers.
We date and keep every version of these terms. When we change them in a way that matters, we tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before features that use the server continue; the version you accepted is recorded on your account. Changes do not take away rights that arose before the change. A support or privacy request never requires agreeing to marketing.
13. Learning activities and instruments
Courses help you practise musical ideas. Completing a screen activity is not an instrument qualification or an assessment of physical playing technique. Follow any adult-support instructions. Written explanations remain available when sound or read-aloud is unavailable.
Use instruments and headphones comfortably, keep sound at a suitable level and stop if an activity causes discomfort. Individual guidance may be needed for physical instrument technique.
14. Recordings you choose to upload
Upload only audio for which you have the necessary rights and permissions, including the recording, composition, samples, performances and other people’s voices. A streaming subscription or a credit line does not provide those permissions.
For an ordinary member, successful upload makes the track publicly listed immediately. There is no separate private review followed by a Publish confirmation. Review the file and details before uploading. The track controls let you hide or show it, edit its details or delete it. A supervised upload requires the upload permission and begins awaiting parent approval. Team restrictions may prevent relisting a removed track.
By choosing an upload, you grant Hearhood a non-exclusive permission, limited to operating that feature, to store the recording, make technical copies needed for delivery and play it to listeners according to its visibility. This does not transfer ownership, authorise sale, or permit use to train an AI model. Optional remix or DJ permissions are separate and apply only to the extent you hold the rights to grant them. A listener must respect the permissions shown and applicable law.
Hiding or deleting a track stops its public availability through the service as implemented, subject to security/legal retention and backup handling described in the privacy notice. It cannot recall copies already lawfully received or prevent third-party capture. Keep your original and project backups. Hosting a recording does not create a payout, distribution, collecting-society or royalty agreement. Any future payment service requires its own clear offer and agreements.
15. Events and promotional links
Check event dates, location, age restrictions and accessibility details with the organiser or venue. Saving an event is not a reservation or purchase. External ticket sellers have their own terms and privacy practices. A resale search link is a search, not a guarantee of ticket stock, authenticity or price. Hearhood’s own promotional cards and sponsored placements are labelled. No purchase or payment is required to use the free creative beta.
