Credits and licences
The Hearhood app is Scopra's own work. These are the things inside it that come from other people, and the credit they are due.
Instrument sounds (the Studio)
The Studio's instruments and drum kits are recordings from openly licensed sample libraries, prepared for the app (trimmed, level-adjusted, converted to MP3). The full list, with sources and licences, is in the app's sound library credits (sounds/CREDITS.md in the public repository). Two of them require attribution, and anyone who releases music made with them should carry these lines too:
- Grand piano: Salamander Grand Piano V3 by Alexander Holm, licensed under CC BY 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/). Samples were trimmed, level-adjusted and converted to MP3 for Hearhood.
- Electric piano (Wurlitzer): Wurlitzer EP200 electric piano samples by Greg Sullivan (http://www.sullivang.net/), licensed under CC BY 3.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/). Samples were trimmed, level-adjusted and converted to MP3 for Hearhood.
The other instruments and kits are under CC0 1.0 (public domain dedication) from Karoryfer Samples, Karoryfer x bigcat instruments, Versilian Studios (VSCO-2 Community Edition and the Versilian Community Sample Library), Virtuosity Drums and the Discord SFZ GM Bank (Jeff Learman). No attribution is required for those; thank you all the same.
Free music (the DJ area)
Free music comes from the Internet Archive (archive.org), a non-profit library, where independent artists and small labels have released it under Creative Commons licences. Each track's artist, licence and release page are shown in the app, and the app writes a credits text for every mix. The licence conditions, including credit and share-alike, are the user's to meet when a mix is published; see the Community and copyright policy.
Typeface
Archivo, by Omnibus-Type, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The licence text is in fonts/OFL.txt next to the font files, which are served from this site.
Controller drawings and MIDI tables
The equipment drawings in the app are its own line drawings, made from short tables of positions; no photographs or logos were copied. Maker and product names (AlphaTheta, Pioneer DJ, rekordbox, Serato, Traktor and others) are used only to say which equipment is meant and are the trademarks of their owners. The MIDI message numbers for controllers come from the makers' published lists, from the open-source Mixxx project (facts only; no code or text was copied) and from testing. The rekordbox export format is read with the help of the format descriptions published by Deep Symmetry and the crate-digger project.
MP3 export
The MP3 export uses lamejs (https://github.com/zhuker/lamejs), a JavaScript port of the LAME MP3 encoder (https://lame.sourceforge.net), under the LGPL 3.0. It is loaded as a separate file (/mp3-encoder.js) only when an MP3 is made, and is unchanged; its licence text is in that file's repository.
Demo songs
The demo songs in My songs were written for the app.
